Spotlight aims to bring attention to artists that haven’t gotten yet the recognition they deserve.
Meet Hsin-Yao Tseng. Although born in Taipei (Taiwan) in 1986, he has studied and learned his craftsmanship in San Francisco. Tseng mostly depicts cityscapes, wet and murky, with a very efficient and poignant use of his limited color palette. He’s also interested in portraits and figurative painting, showing his subjects in urban, contemporaneous settings. Tseng’s brush strokes are swift and care more about the impression and the immediate effect than about precision or clarity. In other words, his works are heavily influenced by the Impressionists.
